PHOTOS: Fire guts Paidha-bound Gaaga Bus in Matugga

Bus owners in Uganda would be advised to review fire fighting equipment their teams travel with after the Matugga Gaaga Bus incident yesterday.

According to the Police,  the Paidha-bound Gaaga bus burnt at Matugga after a tyre bust, resulting into a fire outbreak that the drivers, using a basic fire extinguisher, failed to contain.

Luckily, passengers got out of the bus uninjured and removed all their property from the Kampala-Paidha bus. No passenger was injured, nor anyone lost property.  The bus was burnt beyond recognition and the Fire Brigade eventually extinguished the fire.

There was a similar fire on an Arua Homeland bus on the same highway January last year. See video below.

I was driving from Wobulenzi to Kampala and reached the scene a few minutes after the fire had been put out at about 4pm. Police struggled to control traffic for the next two hours.
