Kampala break-dance, hip-hop eliminations set for Bukoto

Kampala, Uganda | LOUIS JADWONG | The best of Kampala's break dancers, hip-hop and other creative artists will this weekend battle for places at the National Break-Fast Jam due later in the year.

Break-Fast Jam 2018 Central Uganda eliminations on Saturday will feature tough breakdance and popping battles, workshops and performances of rap and beatboxing.

It is organised by FreshLane, an initiative working to empower young people socially and economically through cultivating and elevating art, culture, education and facilitating creative development. Its members are also part of the Breakdance Project Uganda (BPU)..

Break-Fast Jam is an annual breakdance event nurturing and promoting the breakdance and hiphop dance scene in East Africa, on top of passing on life skills to youth. 

Activities include educational workshops, discussions, competitions, performances, showcases, exhibitions. 

Participants from within the Central Uganda region districts mainly from Kampala, Luwero, Wakiso will include dancers, Djs, Beatboxers, vocal percussionist, graffiti writers, Rappers

The event originated in Uganda in 2011 and currently does events in Uganda and Kenya plus hosting participants from various parts of the world.

DATE: Saturday 29th September 2018.
VENUE: Goethe Zentrum Kampala/UGCS on Bukoto street (Kampala – Uganda).
TIME: 3pm (doors open & workshops), 5pm until 8pm (battles).
ENTRANCE: 5,000ugx 
Free: Kids aged 10 and below.
